Although I am a huge Bottega Veneta fan and own numerous bags….this one looks like an placemat to me!
It is messy looking and totally not what I would’ve expected for a whopping $1800.00. If you are so inclined to buy Bottega’s Leather Fringe Shoulder Bag then here’s the link to purchase. I truly think it would look better on your table than your shoulder! Personally, I don’t even like it as a placemat.

it's part of the deconstructed trend which has been appearing at all levels in the fashion industry.
chanels jackets with their fringed edges a few years ago.
ripped frayed jeans.
or a delicate silk bouse with rough unfinished edges.
prada did shoes a few years back with burlap fringe.
so an accessory is just another example of this trend in the industry.
and bottega veneta took their classic woven bag and deconstructed it.
their classic woven handbags are beautifully made though.

I wear distressed jeans and own many Chanel jackets with fringed edges. I totally get the look and love it! In my opinion this Bottega bag is the look gone wrong! They took a classic woven bag and made it look messy and ridiculous. The fringed edges are way too thick. They don't make mistakes that often and every designer is entitled to one. In my eyes….this is that one! It's a placemat at best!

my 19 yr old daughter would use this bag, but she wouldn't spend $1800 on it. Funny provocative title: Handbag or Placement. On this one, despite getting the deconstruction trend, I gotta go with fashion maven Betsy and agree the incompleted ends at the edges just looks messy. Just imagine what they'd be like after a few weeks of use: all curly and messy like bbq burnt ends.

I also must err on the side of awful! The price is crazy and the bag is UGLY! Looks like it's already coming apart at the edges.
