When I was growing up, my mom wore espadrilles…Jacques Cohen (made in France) to be exact! They came in every color and were oh-so-comfy! (priced really well, too) I was so excited when I was old enough to get a pair. They were very simple looking (Navy with no embellishments) but very trendy for their time. Fast forward….decades later and espadrilles are hugely popular again only their priced in the (several) hundreds with an ankle strap and detailing. (Remember the adage…what’s old again is new again) In other words Valentino has put fresh energy into a true classic (old shoe)!
Who knows how comfy Valentino’s espadrilles are. We just want them cuz they’re Valentino and they’re the shoe-of-the-moment. They’re definitely cool looking and easy to wear. There are several variations of the Valentino Espadrille (made in Italy) all featuring the signature detailing we’ve come to love and expect. Although I’m tempted to own a pair I’m not willing to invest a whopping $900 plus for espadrilles! (The prices of shoes are crazy) If you’re willing to make the investment, click the purple links or the shoes to indulge. (If you need to justify….) They’re the perfect light-weight shoe for spring and summer. Our faves are: the blue flora-embroidered ankle wrap espadrille, the stud-embroidered suede espadrille in red, the floral-embroidered ankle wrap in ivory, the rockstud double ankle wrap in ivory, rockstud double ankle wrap in black and the espadrille wedge in ivory. I’d go for the red…it’s fun to have a summer flat that will add pizzazz to your outfit!
XOXO,
