The idea that avant-garde can be the norm is an emerging trend, especially with sunglasses. Designers are embracing the notion that being bold and boisterous in color and pattern is more than just fashion forward; it’s a beautiful avenue of individual expression. Fashion labels from all over the world are pushing the envelope and playing with preconceived notions because now there’s an audience that is willing to step up to the challenge. Empowered women everywhere are taking charge, a sentiment echoing throughout high fashion. Case in point: the most recent sunglass silhouettes for the coming season. Personally, the star-shaped sunglasses are one of the shapes that do not work for me!
This season’s sunglasses are all about odd shapes and bright colors as seen with the bright pink cat-eye sunglasses. These cherry red cat eye sunglasses, for example, break past the boundaries of kitsch and create a powerful statement for the wearer. The theme for sunglasses styles this coming season is play with shape and color. Check out the Prada’s cat-eye sunglasses as seen below. Expect bold hues and unexpected, lively lines to dominate the sunglasses market for the seasons to come. Not to be forgotten this season…white is the new black!
Keep in mind that not everyone can pull these types of sunglasses off – you need the confidence and the gumption to take on the latest trends. Will you be one of the few to break past the aviator barrier and try one of these new trends? Linda Farrow is one designer who always pushes the envelope or should we say “the sunglass case”?
