A Few Goody Gumdrops Interviews Super Model Josie Maran About Her Socially Conscious Make-up Line

We loved interviewing Super Model…Josie Maran and learning about her environmentally conscious line of luxury make-up. We have learned so much from Josie and have begun to indulge in her signature Aragan Oil. Tomorrow we will be doing an amazing Josie Maran Cosmetics Giveaway!

1.Was it a difficult transition from successful cover-girl model to head of a cosmetics company?
I wouldn’t say the transition has been difficult – but it has been eye opening to say the least. I am learning so much about business, chemistry, green issues, etc. It’s been an amazing journey so far, and I can’t wait to see where else it takes me.

2.Your byline is Luxury with a Conscience. What exactly does that mean?
With my byline I try to strike a balance. I want it to be beautiful and luxurious, but I also want it to be healthy and environmentally conscious. We use as many natural and organic ingredients as possible in our formulations and we’ve aligned ourselves with many great organizations like the Natural Resources Defense Council, Tree People, Global Green USA, and City of Hope Cancer Treatment Center. I want women who use my line to look and feel gorgeous and to also know that through their purchases they are contributing to great causes.

3.Is it true that all your packaging can be recycled?
Yes. Our boxes are made from 30% post consumer recycled material and are printed with soy ink. The packaging for every product can be recycled, the compacts can be composted, and the Bear Naked Wipes are biodegradable.

4.Has your make-up ever been tested on animals?
Never ever!

5.What is Argan Oil and what does it do?
Argan Oil is our signature ingredient! We have it available in a 100% organic form, which is great to use as a daily moisturizer, and we also infuse all of our products with it. We get our Argan oil from Morocco, where it is sustainably cultivated and harvested by a collective of Berber women who are given a fair price for their work. The oil comes from a first cold press, meaning that no heat is applied to it when the oil is extracted from the Argan nuts. This gives you the purest, most vitamin and EFA packed oil that you can find. It is an anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, super amazing miracle ingredient!

6.What are your personal favorites in your line?
Right now I’m loving the Argan Oil Hair Serum. It’s infused with Argan oil, Avocado oil, and Jojoba. I put it on after I wash my hair and it has really helped moisturize and repair split ends. I’m also obsessed with the Argan Lip Treatment. It’s got an essence of green apple in it and is so yummy! I’m constantly applying it while sitting at my computer just to get a little hint of the apple! I’m also super excited about some of the new things we’re launching next month for Holiday. Especially the full sized version of our Argan Moisture Stick in Rosey that has been a huge hit on QVC!

7.Do you have a favorite blog?
My favorite blog right now is Rebecca Woolf’s Girls Gone Child (girlsgonechild.net). She’s a young, hip mom living the writer’s life in Los Angeles. She’s got a fabulous sense of style and her posts are so well written and poignant that they make me cry more often than I’d like to admit! I also love reading A Few Goody Gumdrops which has the latest in fashion and makes me laugh!
