Two years ago I fell in love with this piece in the window of the Lanoue Fine Art Gallery on Newbury Street in Boston. My dear friend, Laura Schiff Bean is the very talented artist. We went to the opening of her one-women show and I was completely in awe of this incredible painting titled “Late For Dinner”. Laura is typically known for her dresses and has appeared in numerous galleries and exhibits throughout the country.
Needless to say…Laura’s paintings have surpassed my budget. Fast forward to a (small) birthday I’m having in a few weeks. Laura surprisingly gifted me with this piece (Late For Dinner) for my birthday. When Laura told me she had my present in her car…I never imagined this would be it!!!!! I was totally overwhelmed and overjoyed to receive an original Laura Schiff Bean painting and one I’m totally in LOVE with. I’d been “eyeing” this painting from the moment I saw it. My husband and I were beyond thrilled with this exceptional over-the-top very welcomed gift. The combination of the daring red background with the graphic but subtle black and white tie accented with occasional graffiti touches is super cool. “The recent inclusion of text and graffiti references the human desire to render our presence tangible, to make our voices heard, to leave our individual mark in a world becoming increasingly cacophonous, filled with the 24/7 intrusions of smart-phones, computers, media sound bites, and text messaging”. LSB
There are no words to thank Laura for her friendship and this incredibly wonderful and lifelong gift. We have excitedly hung this fabulous piece in our family room with just the right amount of light accentuating the bold color. I have NO clue what to get Laura when her birthday rolls around!!!!!
